Israel closed the Ibrahimi Mosque within the West Financial institution metropolis of Hebron on Monday and opened it to settlers to mark the Jewish vacation of Sukkot. Anadolu Company reviews.
“The Israeli occupation authorities closed the Ibrahimi Mosque on Monday and Tuesday for Sukkot,” stated Ghassan Al-Rajabi, the director of the Ibrahimi Mosque. Anadolu.
He stated all elements of the mosque can be opened to Israeli settlers, including that Israel closes the mosque to Muslims for 10 days yearly to mark numerous Jewish holidays.
Such steps, he stated, fall inside the “framework of the continuing spatial and temporal divisions” of the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Revered by each Muslims and Jews, the Ibrahimi Mosque complicated in Hebron is believed to be the burial place of the prophets Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
After the 1994 bloodbath of 29 Palestinian worshipers on the mosque by a Jewish extremist settler, Baruch Goldstein, Israeli authorities divided the mosque complicated between Muslim and Jewish worshippers.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee determined in July 2017 to inscribe the Ibrahimi Mosque and the traditional metropolis of Hebron on the World Heritage Checklist.
Hebron is dwelling to about 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 500 unlawful Jewish settlers. The latter stay in a collection of solely Jewish enclaves which are closely guarded by Israeli troops.
